No More Free Ride Act

This bill bars certain non-U.S. nationals (aliens under federal law) from becoming a U.S. citizen or receiving any federal public benefits. Specifically, this prohibition shall apply to a non-U.S. national who (1) entered the United States unlawfully, and (2) received a payment as part of a settlement of a lawsuit for harm the individual sustained as a result of immigration enforcement.

Bill 117 hr 6243, also known as the No More Free Ride Act, is a piece of legislation currently being considered by the US Congress. The purpose of this bill is to address concerns about individuals who receive government assistance, such as welfare or food stamps, but are not actively seeking employment or participating in job training programs.

The No More Free Ride Act aims to require individuals who receive government assistance to either be employed or actively seeking employment in order to continue receiving benefits. This bill would also mandate that individuals participate in job training programs if they are unable to find employment.

Supporters of the No More Free Ride Act argue that it will help incentivize individuals to become self-sufficient and reduce dependency on government assistance programs. They believe that requiring individuals to work or actively seek employment will ultimately benefit both the individuals and the economy as a whole. Opponents of the bill, however, argue that it unfairly targets low-income individuals and could potentially harm those who are unable to find employment due to factors beyond their control, such as a lack of job opportunities in their area or health issues. They also raise concerns about the potential negative impact on families who rely on government assistance to meet their basic needs. Overall, the No More Free Ride Act is a controversial piece of legislation that seeks to address issues related to government assistance programs and employment. It remains to be seen how this bill will progress in Congress and what potential impact it may have on individuals receiving government assistance.
