Trafficking Survivors Housing Act of 2021

This bill requires the Interagency Council on Homelessness to study and report on the availability of housing and related services for human trafficking victims and individuals vulnerable to becoming human trafficking victims.

Specifically, the study must assess the availability and accessibility of housing and services for such individuals who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability and must identify best practices in meeting the housing and service needs of those individuals.

Bill 117 HR 3891, also known as the Trafficking Survivors Housing Act of 2021, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress with the aim of providing housing assistance to survivors of human trafficking. The bill seeks to address the critical issue of housing instability faced by survivors of trafficking, who often struggle to find safe and stable housing after escaping their traffickers.

The bill proposes the establishment of a grant program that would provide funding to organizations and agencies that offer housing assistance to trafficking survivors. These grants would be used to support the development and operation of housing programs specifically tailored to the needs of survivors, including transitional housing, emergency shelter, and long-term housing options.

In addition to providing housing assistance, the bill also includes provisions for supportive services such as case management, counseling, and job training to help survivors rebuild their lives and achieve independence. The goal of the bill is to ensure that survivors of trafficking have access to safe and stable housing, as well as the support they need to recover from their traumatic experiences and move forward with their lives. Overall, the Trafficking Survivors Housing Act of 2021 aims to address the unique housing needs of trafficking survivors and provide them with the resources and support necessary to rebuild their lives and thrive. By prioritizing housing assistance and supportive services for survivors, the bill seeks to empower survivors to break free from the cycle of exploitation and build a brighter future for themselves.
