Summary of Bill HR 1069
Bill 117 HR 1069, also known as the Streamlining Permitting to Enable Efficient Deployment of Broadband Infrastructure Act of 2021, aims to expedite the process of deploying broadband infrastructure across the United States. The bill focuses on streamlining the permitting process for broadband projects in order to increase efficiency and reduce unnecessary delays.
One key aspect of the bill is the establishment of a new office within the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that will be responsible for coordinating with state and local governments to streamline the permitting process for broadband infrastructure projects. This office will work to ensure that permits are processed in a timely manner and that unnecessary red tape is eliminated.
Additionally, the bill includes provisions to encourage the deployment of broadband infrastructure in underserved and rural areas. This includes providing financial incentives for companies to expand broadband access to these areas and ensuring that federal funding is targeted towards projects that will have the greatest impact on increasing access to high-speed internet. Overall, the Streamlining Permitting to Enable Efficient Deployment of Broadband Infrastructure Act of 2021 aims to remove barriers to the deployment of broadband infrastructure and increase access to high-speed internet for all Americans. By streamlining the permitting process and targeting funding towards underserved areas, the bill seeks to bridge the digital divide and ensure that all Americans have access to the benefits of high-speed internet.
