Summary of Bill HR 58

Bill 119 hr 58, also known as the "Immigration and Nationality Act Amendment Act," aims to make voting in a Federal election by an unlawfully present alien an aggravated felony. This means that individuals who are in the United States without legal authorization and vote in a Federal election would face harsher penalties under this proposed legislation.

The bill seeks to amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to specifically address the issue of unlawfully present aliens participating in the electoral process. By classifying voting in a Federal election as an aggravated felony for these individuals, the bill aims to deter non-citizens from engaging in illegal voting activities.

In addition to addressing voting by unlawfully present aliens, the bill also includes provisions for other purposes related to immigration and nationality. While the specific details of these additional provisions are not outlined in the summary, it is clear that the primary focus of the bill is on preventing non-citizens from participating in Federal elections. Overall, Bill 119 hr 58 represents a significant effort to strengthen the integrity of the electoral process and uphold the rule of law when it comes to immigration and voting rights. If passed, this legislation would have important implications for how unlawfully present aliens are treated in the United States in relation to Federal elections.
