The bill expands the definition of preventive health services to include (1) evidence-based items or services that have an A or B rating in the recommendations of the United States Preventive Services Task Force; (2) immunizations that have a recommendation from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention with respect to the individual involved; and (3) with respect to services for women, the preventive care, screenings, and contraceptives provided for in the Health Resources and Services Administration Preventive Services Guidelines in effect as of December 30, 2022, and any contraceptive approved, granted, or cleared by the Food and Drug Administration, any related contraceptive care, and any related services.

Bill 119 HR 1644, also known as the Veterans Preventive Health Coverage Fairness Act, aims to make changes to title 38 of the United States Code in order to eliminate copayments for preventive health services medications provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This bill seeks to ensure that veterans have access to necessary preventive health services without having to worry about additional costs.

The main focus of this legislation is to remove financial barriers that may prevent veterans from receiving important preventive health services. By eliminating copayments for medications related to preventive health services, the VA can better support the overall health and well-being of veterans. This includes medications for conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and cholesterol management, among others.

In addition to eliminating copayments for preventive health services medications, the bill also includes provisions for other purposes related to veterans' health care. These additional purposes may include improving access to care, enhancing the quality of services provided, and addressing any other barriers that veterans may face when seeking medical treatment through the VA. Overall, Bill 119 HR 1644 aims to prioritize the health and well-being of veterans by ensuring that they have access to necessary preventive health services without financial burden. This legislation underscores the importance of supporting veterans' health care needs and ensuring that they receive the care and services they deserve.
