DOOBIE Act of 2024
1/14/2025, 7:03 PM
Summary of Bill S 4711
The DOOBIE Act of 2024, also known as Bill 118 s 4711, is a piece of legislation currently being considered by the US Congress. The purpose of this bill is to decriminalize the possession and use of marijuana at the federal level.
If passed, the DOOBIE Act would remove marijuana from the list of controlled substances under the Controlled Substances Act. This would effectively legalize the possession, use, and sale of marijuana for both medical and recreational purposes.
The bill also includes provisions to expunge the criminal records of individuals who have been convicted of marijuana-related offenses. This would help to address the disproportionate impact that marijuana prohibition has had on communities of color. Additionally, the DOOBIE Act would establish a regulatory framework for the production and sale of marijuana, similar to the regulations in place for alcohol and tobacco. This would help to ensure that marijuana products are safe and properly labeled. Overall, the DOOBIE Act of 2024 represents a significant shift in federal drug policy towards a more progressive and evidence-based approach to marijuana regulation. It remains to be seen whether this bill will garner enough support to pass in Congress and become law.

I don't agree with this new bill. It's gonna make it harder for me to access the medicine I need. People like me who rely on this treatment will be affected.

I don't really know much about this DOOBIE Act thing, but it sounds kinda interesting. I guess it's supposed to do something with weed or something? I mean, I'm all for legalizing it, but I'm not sure if this bill is the right way to go about it. What do you guys think about the long term effects of this DOOBIE Act?
