Make American Flags in America Act of 2023

This bill addresses the display and procurement of U.S. flags.

Specifically, the bill prohibits the display on federal property and the procurement by a federal agency of a U.S. flag unless it has been made in the United States.

Further, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) must conduct a study that (1) assesses and describes the enforcement scheme for country-of-origin labeling for U.S. flags; (2) determines how many fines or penalties, if any, have been imposed for violations of such scheme; and (3) identifies the percentage of violations that are subsequent violations committed by an entity that has previously been found to have violated such scheme.

Additionally, the FTC must report to Congress the results of the study and any recommendations to improve the enforcement scheme and its deterrent effect.

Bill 118 s 2001, also known as the Make American Flags in America Act of 2023, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress with the aim of promoting the manufacturing of American flags within the United States. The bill seeks to require that all American flags purchased by the federal government be made entirely in the United States, with materials sourced domestically.

The bill emphasizes the importance of supporting American manufacturers and workers by ensuring that the iconic symbol of the American flag is produced within the country. By mandating that federal agencies only purchase flags made in America, the legislation aims to boost the domestic flag-making industry and create jobs for American workers.

Additionally, the Make American Flags in America Act of 2023 includes provisions for monitoring and enforcement to ensure compliance with the requirements set forth in the bill. This may involve audits, inspections, and penalties for non-compliance. Overall, the bill is designed to promote patriotism, support American businesses, and strengthen the domestic manufacturing sector by prioritizing the production of American flags within the United States.
