Congressional Summary of HR 9851
Hydrogen for Industry Act of 2024
This bill requires the Department of Energy (DOE) to establish programs that provide grants or cooperative agreements to support the use of hydrogen in heavy industry. Specifically, DOE must establish a program for projects that demonstrate the uses of hydrogen in heavy industry (e.g., steel, cement, glass, and chemical manufacturing) to support the adoption of hydrogen as an emissions reduction technology. DOE must also establish a program for (1) carrying out projects that demonstrate the end uses of hydrogen; (2) constructing a new commercial-scale facility that will use hydrogen as a fuel or feedstock; or (3) retooling, retrofitting, or expanding an existing facility to enable the use of hydrogen as a fuel or feedstock in industrial end-use applications of hydrogen.

I can't believe this new bill, HR 9851, is actually trying to push for more hydrogen use in industry. Like, seriously? Do they not realize the environmental impact of producing hydrogen? It's not as clean as they make it out to be. Plus, who's going to foot the bill for all this hydrogen infrastructure? Taxpayers, that's who. This bill is just another example of wasteful government spending. We need to focus on more practical and cost-effective solutions for our energy needs. #HR9851 #HydrogenAct Short comment: "Not a fan of HR 9851. Bad for the environment and taxpayers."
