Hydrogen for Industry Act of 2024

This bill requires the Department of Energy (DOE) to establish programs that provide grants or cooperative agreements to support the use of hydrogen in heavy industry. Specifically, DOE must establish a program for projects that demonstrate the uses of hydrogen in heavy industry (e.g., steel, cement, glass, and chemical manufacturing) to support the adoption of hydrogen as an emissions reduction technology. DOE must also establish a program for (1) carrying out projects that demonstrate the end uses of hydrogen; (2) constructing a new commercial-scale facility that will use hydrogen as a fuel or feedstock; or (3) retooling, retrofitting, or expanding an existing facility to enable the use of hydrogen as a fuel or feedstock in industrial end-use applications of hydrogen.

Bill 118 hr 9851, also known as the Hydrogen for Industry Act of 2024, aims to promote the use of hydrogen as a clean energy source in various industries across the United States. The bill recognizes the potential of hydrogen to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality.

The key provisions of the bill include funding for research and development of hydrogen technologies, as well as grants and incentives for businesses to adopt hydrogen as an energy source. The bill also establishes a framework for the production, storage, and distribution of hydrogen, with a focus on increasing efficiency and reducing costs.

Additionally, the bill includes measures to support workforce training and education in the hydrogen industry, in order to ensure a skilled workforce is available to support the growth of the sector. The bill also calls for the establishment of partnerships between government, industry, and academia to further advance hydrogen technology. Overall, the Hydrogen for Industry Act of 2024 seeks to accelerate the adoption of hydrogen as a clean energy source in various industries, with the goal of reducing emissions and promoting sustainable economic growth.
