Military Families National Parks Access Enhancement Act

This bill extends eligibility for a free lifetime National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass to individuals who are next-of-kin to a member of the Armed Forces whose death entitles the survivor to a death gratuity (e.g., the servicemember died while on active duty or during inactive duty training).

Bill 118 hr 9516, also known as the Military Families National Parks Access Enhancement Act, aims to provide free access to national parks and federal recreational lands for members of the military and their families. The bill specifically targets active duty service members, veterans, and Gold Star families, who have lost a loved one in military service.

The legislation seeks to enhance the well-being and quality of life for military families by allowing them to enjoy the natural beauty and recreational opportunities offered by national parks without having to pay entrance fees. This access is intended to serve as a token of appreciation for the sacrifices made by military personnel and their families in service to the country.

The bill also includes provisions to streamline the process for obtaining free access to national parks for eligible military families, ensuring that they can easily take advantage of this benefit. Additionally, the legislation aims to promote awareness of the program among military communities and encourage participation in outdoor recreational activities. Overall, the Military Families National Parks Access Enhancement Act seeks to honor and support the men and women of the military by providing them with greater access to the natural wonders of our national parks, while also promoting family bonding and well-being through outdoor recreation.
