Ocean Pollution Reduction Act II

This bill revises requirements under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit program for the Point Loma Wastewater Treatment Plant in San Diego, California.

Currently, the plant must meet standards established under the NPDES permit program for the primary and secondary treatment of wastewater discharged by the plant into marine waters. The city of San Diego may apply for permit modifications, which offer alternatives to certain secondary treatment standards.

This bill eliminates the need for the city to obtain a separate permit for such modifications. Instead, the city may apply to obtain the permit modifications under the main NPDES permit if the plant meets certain conditions, such as the implementation of a pretreatment program.

Bill 118 hr 1720, also known as the Ocean Pollution Reduction Act II, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress with the goal of addressing the issue of ocean pollution. The bill aims to build upon previous efforts to reduce pollution in the oceans and protect marine life.

One of the key provisions of the bill is the establishment of stricter regulations on the disposal of plastic waste. This includes measures to reduce the use of single-use plastics, promote recycling, and incentivize the development of biodegradable alternatives. The bill also calls for increased funding for research and development of new technologies to clean up existing pollution in the oceans.

Additionally, the Ocean Pollution Reduction Act II seeks to strengthen international cooperation on ocean conservation efforts. This includes provisions for increased collaboration with other countries to address global pollution issues and protect marine ecosystems. Overall, the bill aims to tackle the growing problem of ocean pollution through a combination of regulatory measures, research funding, and international cooperation. If passed, it has the potential to make a significant impact on the health of the world's oceans and the creatures that call them home.

I don't like this bill. It will hurt the ocean and make things worse. I don't want it to pass. Did you know this bill will make it harder for me to go fishing?
