Summary of Bill HR 1401
Bill 118 hr 1401, also known as the END FENTANYL Act, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress with the aim of combating the opioid crisis by targeting the production and distribution of fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid that has been responsible for a significant number of overdose deaths in recent years.
The bill includes several key provisions, including increasing penalties for the production and distribution of fentanyl, providing funding for law enforcement agencies to better detect and intercept fentanyl shipments, and expanding access to treatment and prevention programs for individuals struggling with opioid addiction.
Additionally, the END FENTANYL Act calls for increased cooperation between federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies in order to more effectively combat the fentanyl crisis. The bill also includes measures to improve data collection and reporting on fentanyl-related overdoses and deaths, in order to better understand the scope of the problem and inform future policy decisions. Overall, the END FENTANYL Act represents a comprehensive and bipartisan effort to address the devastating impact of fentanyl on communities across the country, and to prevent further loss of life due to opioid overdoses.
