Respect, Advancement, and Increasing Support for Educators Act of 2022 or the RAISE Act of 2022

This bill allows eligible educators (i.e., any elementary or secondary teacher and any early childhood educator) a refundable tax credit of $1,000 plus an additional amount (based upon a specified student poverty ratio) for eligible educators employed at a qualifying school (i.e., a public elementary or secondary school that is eligible for certain federal assistance or is funded by the Bureau of Indian Education), or an early childhood education program for children receiving certain federal assistance.

The bill also increases the amount of the tax deduction for the expenses of elementary and secondary school teachers and expands such credit to include early childhood educators.

The bill provides additional funding to local educational agencies that maintain or increase the salaries of their teachers.

Bill 117 HR 7660, also known as the RAISE Act of 2022, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress. The purpose of this bill is to reform the current immigration system in the United States by prioritizing applicants based on their skills, education, and ability to contribute to the economy.

The RAISE Act proposes to eliminate the current diversity visa lottery system and reduce the number of family-based visas issued each year. Instead, the bill aims to establish a points-based system that would prioritize immigrants who have high levels of education, valuable skills, and proficiency in English.

Additionally, the RAISE Act seeks to limit the number of refugees admitted to the United States each year and to implement stricter vetting procedures for asylum seekers. The bill also includes provisions to increase funding for border security and enforcement measures. Supporters of the RAISE Act argue that it will help attract highly skilled immigrants who can contribute to the US economy and fill critical labor shortages. They also believe that the bill will improve national security by implementing stricter immigration policies. Opponents of the RAISE Act argue that it will reduce diversity in the immigrant population and make it more difficult for families to reunite in the United States. They also express concerns that the bill may disproportionately impact certain groups of immigrants, such as refugees and asylum seekers. Overall, the RAISE Act of 2022 is a controversial piece of legislation that aims to reform the US immigration system by prioritizing skilled immigrants and implementing stricter vetting procedures. The bill has sparked debate among lawmakers and immigration advocates, and its future remains uncertain as it makes its way through the legislative process.
