Hospital Inpatient Services Modernization Act

This bill extends the Acute Hospital Care at Home Program under Medicare until two years after the end of the COVID-19 public health emergency (the program allows hospitals to treat certain patients from emergency departments or inpatient hospital beds at home during the emergency period). It also requires an evaluation of this program and the Hospital Without Walls program (the program allowed hospitals to transfer patients to outside facilities, such as hotels, to continue treatment during the emergency period).

Bill 117 HR 7053, also known as the Hospital Inpatient Services Modernization Act, aims to modernize and improve the delivery of inpatient services in hospitals across the United States. The bill was introduced in the House of Representatives and is currently under consideration by Congress.

The key provisions of the bill include:

This includes measures to reduce hospital-acquired infections, improve patient safety, and enhance the patient experience. 3. Promoting the use of electronic health records and other technology to streamline the delivery of inpatient services and improve communication among healthcare providers. 4. Enhancing transparency and accountability in the healthcare system by requiring hospitals to report on their performance metrics and outcomes. Overall, the Hospital Inpatient Services Modernization Act seeks to modernize and improve the delivery of inpatient services in hospitals to ensure that patients receive high-quality care in a cost-effective manner. The bill is currently being debated in Congress, and its ultimate fate will depend on the outcome of the legislative process.
