This bill addresses the production of oil and gas, the importation of oil or natural gas from Russia, and the exportation of oil or natural gas to other countries.

Specifically, the bill approves the TransCanada Keystone Pipeline in Phillips County, Montana for the import of oil from Canada to the United States.

In addition, the bill requires the President to (1) prohibit the importation of oil or natural gas originating from Russia, and (2) seek to reduce restrictions on the exportation of oil or natural gas originating from the United States.

Bill 117 hr 6916, also known as the Ending Dependence on Russian Energy Act, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress with the aim of reducing the United States' reliance on energy imports from Russia. The bill seeks to achieve this goal by implementing a series of measures that would diversify the sources of energy used in the US and decrease the country's dependence on Russian energy.

One of the key provisions of the bill is the promotion of domestic energy production, including increasing the production of natural gas, oil, and renewable energy sources within the United States. This would help to reduce the need for energy imports from Russia and other foreign countries. The bill also includes provisions to support the development of energy infrastructure, such as pipelines and storage facilities, to further enhance the country's energy independence.

In addition to promoting domestic energy production, the Ending Dependence on Russian Energy Act also aims to strengthen energy partnerships with US allies and trading partners. This includes increasing energy exports to countries in Europe and other regions, as well as working with international organizations to coordinate efforts to reduce global dependence on Russian energy. Overall, the bill is designed to enhance US national security by reducing the country's vulnerability to disruptions in the global energy market and decreasing its reliance on energy imports from Russia. By diversifying energy sources and strengthening energy partnerships with allies, the Ending Dependence on Russian Energy Act seeks to ensure a more secure and sustainable energy future for the United States.
