The bill also sets forth requirements for amphibious passenger vessels that are not in compliance with the regulations, including a requirement remove the canopies and window coverings of such vessels for waterborne operations, or to install in such vessels canopies that do not restrict either horizontal or vertical escape by passengers in the event of flooding or sinking.

Bill 117 hr 6831, also known as the Amphibious Passenger Vessel Safety Act, aims to improve safety regulations for amphibious passenger vessels operating in US waters. The bill requires the Commandant of the Coast Guard to issue specific regulations for these types of vessels to ensure the safety of passengers and crew members.

The regulations will address various aspects of operating amphibious passenger vessels, such as emergency procedures, maintenance standards, and crew training requirements. The goal is to prevent accidents and ensure that these vessels are equipped to handle emergencies effectively.

In addition to safety regulations, the bill also includes provisions for regular inspections of amphibious passenger vessels to ensure compliance with the new regulations. This will help to hold operators accountable and maintain a high level of safety for passengers and crew members. Overall, the Amphibious Passenger Vessel Safety Act seeks to enhance the safety of these unique vessels operating in US waters and protect the well-being of those on board.
