Secure America's Borders First Act

This bill prohibits using federal funds to provide certain military assistance to Ukraine until a border wall system along the U.S.-Mexico border is completed and operation control of such border is achieved.

Specifically, this prohibition shall apply to funds made available to the Department of Defense and funds made available for security assistance or security cooperation.

Bill 117 HR 6648, also known as the Secure America's Borders First Act, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress with the goal of enhancing border security along the United States' southern border with Mexico. The bill aims to address issues related to illegal immigration, drug trafficking, and national security concerns.

The Secure America's Borders First Act proposes several measures to strengthen border security. These measures include increasing the number of Border Patrol agents, improving surveillance technology along the border, and constructing physical barriers such as walls or fences in areas where illegal crossings are most prevalent.

Additionally, the bill calls for increased cooperation between federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to better coordinate efforts to secure the border. It also includes provisions for enhancing the screening and vetting of individuals entering the country to prevent potential threats to national security. Supporters of the Secure America's Borders First Act argue that these measures are necessary to protect the country from illegal immigration and criminal activity. They believe that securing the border is essential for maintaining the safety and security of the United States. Opponents of the bill, however, have raised concerns about the potential cost of implementing these measures and the impact they may have on immigrant communities. They argue that a more comprehensive approach to immigration reform, including pathways to citizenship for undocumented immigrants already living in the US, is needed to address the root causes of illegal immigration. Overall, the Secure America's Borders First Act is a controversial piece of legislation that has sparked debate among lawmakers and the public. Its fate in Congress remains uncertain as discussions continue on how best to address border security and immigration issues in the United States.
