Polling Change Awareness Act

This bill establishes minimum requirements for notifying individuals of a change in their polling place for a federal election.

Specifically, the bill requires a state that changes an individual's polling place to notify the individual at least seven days before the federal election or the first day of an early voting period, whichever occurs first. However, if the change is made fewer than seven days before the federal election and the individual appears at the previously assigned polling place, the state must make every reasonable effort to enable the individual to vote. Further, the bill specifies the methods of notification.

In addition, states must place signs at locations that no longer serve as a polling place.

Bill 117 HR 641, also known as the Polling Change Awareness Act, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress. The main purpose of this bill is to increase awareness and transparency surrounding changes to polling locations and times in order to ensure that all eligible voters have the opportunity to participate in elections.

The Polling Change Awareness Act requires that any changes to polling locations or times be communicated to the public in a timely and accessible manner. This includes notifying voters through various means such as mail, email, social media, and local news outlets. Additionally, the bill mandates that polling changes be posted on the website of the relevant election authority at least 30 days prior to the election.

Furthermore, the Polling Change Awareness Act requires that polling locations be easily accessible to all voters, including those with disabilities. This includes providing accommodations such as ramps, handrails, and accessible voting machines. The bill also encourages the use of technology to make voting more convenient, such as allowing for early voting and online voter registration. Overall, the Polling Change Awareness Act aims to ensure that all eligible voters are able to exercise their right to vote by increasing transparency and accessibility in the election process. This bill has received bipartisan support in Congress and is currently being reviewed by the relevant committees for further consideration.
