Rural Health Training Act of 2021

This bill requires the Health Resources and Services Administration to establish a grant program for rural hospitals, health clinics, and community health centers to provide training to employees who are nonphysician clinicians or health care support staff. As a condition of receiving grant-funded training, a trainee must continue working for the grantee for at least five years.

The bill also expands the allowable uses of funding to include a trainee's childcare or transportation expenses.

The Government Accountability Office must report on the impact of the grants on health care workforce retention at rural health care facilities.

Bill 117 HR 5875, also known as the Rural Health Training Act of 2021, aims to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in rural areas of the United States. The bill focuses on providing training and support for healthcare workers in these underserved communities.

One key aspect of the bill is the establishment of a grant program to fund training programs for healthcare professionals who are interested in working in rural areas. These programs would focus on providing education and resources specific to the needs of rural communities, such as telehealth services and rural health disparities.

Additionally, the bill includes provisions to increase funding for existing rural health programs, such as the National Health Service Corps and the Rural Health Clinic Program. These programs provide financial incentives for healthcare professionals to work in rural areas and support the development of healthcare infrastructure in these communities. Overall, the Rural Health Training Act of 2021 aims to improve access to quality healthcare in rural areas by investing in training programs and support for healthcare professionals. By addressing the shortage of healthcare workers in these underserved communities, the bill seeks to improve health outcomes and reduce disparities in rural America.
