Curriculum Review of Teachings Transparency Act or the CRT Transparency Act

This bill requires a local educational agency, in order to receive certain federal education grants, to post on a publicly accessible website the curriculum for each grade level of its elementary and secondary schools.

The CRT Transparency Act, also known as Bill 117 hr 5162, is a piece of legislation currently being considered by the US Congress. The purpose of this bill is to increase transparency in the use of Critical Race Theory (CRT) in educational institutions that receive federal funding.

Under the CRT Transparency Act, schools and universities that receive federal funding would be required to disclose any curriculum or training materials that incorporate CRT principles. This includes providing information on the specific content of the materials, as well as how they are being used in the classroom.

Additionally, the bill would require schools to provide notice to parents and guardians if their child will be exposed to CRT teachings. This is intended to ensure that parents are aware of what their children are learning and have the opportunity to opt out if they so choose. Proponents of the CRT Transparency Act argue that it is important for parents and taxpayers to know how their money is being used in educational settings, and that transparency is essential in promoting accountability and ensuring that students are receiving a well-rounded education. Critics of the bill, however, argue that it is unnecessary and could be used to target and suppress certain viewpoints in the classroom. They also argue that CRT is an important framework for understanding systemic racism and should not be censored or restricted in educational settings. Overall, the CRT Transparency Act is a controversial piece of legislation that seeks to increase transparency in the use of CRT in educational institutions. It is currently being debated in Congress, and its fate remains uncertain.
